Foods Eaten

The foods currently eaten by diagnosed coeliacs by time since diagnosis.

For all time periods since diagnosis participants reported a positive move towards eating more fruit and vegetables, milk yoghurt and cheese, beans peas and lentils, nuts and seeds, meat fish and poultry. There was a considerable increase in consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables peaking at 71% in the first year. All groups reported a move away from eating cakes and biscuits, chocolate and sweets, and crisps and snacks. A reduction in the consumption of cakes and biscuits by 76%, and crisps and snacks by 58%, reduced most between 1-2 years post-diagnosis.
